The owners built and completed this beautiful house a few months ago. Living and working in Athens they wanted to build a dream holiday home to be near the sea, and within walking distance of the village.
They achieved this by finding a beautiful secluded location on a hillside just above the village of Nissaki. It enjoys majestic coastline views which almost take your breath away 'Villa Nissaki' was built from locally quarried stone, to ensure that despite its newness, the house would merge into its natural surroundings of stone clad landscape of maquis, olives, and spear like cypresses, in Spring and Autumn carpeted with pink cyclamen.
The owners, a professional husband and wife team, ensured no expense was spared to create a home that incorporated every modern comfort, combined with large, light, and airy rooms, each with their individual view and terrace. This year, the owners are renting their home for the first time, and guests staying at Villa Nissaki will enjoy the fact that it was built as a more than comfortable home, rather than an impersonal “rental villa”.
The fact the house was built on a steep hillside meant the owners could create the living areas on the higher level, making the most of its fantastic views. The huge area of sitting room, leading to the kitchen and dining room, all cleverly combine to make an amazing living space. A TV room for “vegging out”, Wi-Fi, computer and printer ensures a private space for teenagers or the city executive!
Aspiring chefs will love the very well equipped large kitchen and breakfast area.
Outside, the surrounding leisure and entertainment area is where much of the day will be spent, the spectacular pools (2, If you don’t mind) providing the focal point.
In early summer, wild flowers still proliferate, a time for walking, and exploring. In the high summer months, unlike the shores of other fashionable Mediterranean resorts, the area still remains relatively peaceful, slipping into the Autumn, long Indian summer days, a warm sea, and cooler nights.
For those with children of all ages during school holidays, the house will meet everybodys expectations. Teenagers love Kassiopi with its friendly bars and relatively unsophisticated night life, Agios Stephanos for its beautiful waterside Restaurants and bars, and the fabulous Agni one of the most stunning coves a few minutes drive from "Villa Nissaki" with a range of lovely Tavernas to gourmet restaurants (a favourite of the late Princess Margaret).
Finally, to sit on the candlelit terrace at dusk, with the twinkling lights of Nissaki below. The truly stunning views of Corfu Town and the floodlit ruins of the centuries old Roman castle silhouetted against the mysterious shapes of the distant Albanian mountains. Looking out to sea and the romantic passing of a floodlit cruise ship gliding silently over an inky blue sea is when the property is at its most beautiful. Looking up at a starlit sky, perhaps listening to the soft hoot of Gerald Durrells beloved Scops owl breaking the silence, is truly magical.
"Villa Nissaki" is a recommended home for an unforgettable stay on the beautiful North - east coast of Corfu this summer.
