The quaint balcony offers guests the opportunity to gaze onto the street views while this apartment has access to the furnished, Acropolis view, rooftop terrace for moments under the sun or stargazing at night. A seating area, a dining table, a fully equipped kitchen with kitchenware and two private bathrooms complete the facilities of this apartment.
The homes are housed in a restored, listed, 1930’s corner building of three facades and two storeys that still maintains the classic elegance of old Athenian sophistication. Located on Sarri Street, precisely opposite one of Athens’ oldest squares, Plateia Asomaton, self-catered, fully fitted, modern apartments with Acropolis views. The historical building fuses modern interior design that pays great homage to the original, neoclassical architecture and exudes a demure sense of grandness which comes second only to the shadow of awe that the magnificent Acropolis casts.
Located in one of the city’s most historic and riveting districts, in the heart of contemporary Athens’ most picturesque and hip side. The vibrant neighbourhood of Psyrri is brimming with a plethora of colourful stores day and night; antique shops, quaint cafes and a range of bars and eateries give the area a perennial charm that is hard to resist. In fact, the square that the apartments face, Plateia Asomaton is home to one of the oldest Byzantine churches of the city, characterised by the Byzantine influence of the 11th century. Plateia Asomaton square, together with the squares of Syntagma and Omonoia, demarcate the historic triangle of old Athens. Essentially, it marks one end of the historic center, on the north eastern side of the Acropolis, from where all points of interest converge. The city views from Thalasino appartment includes the Temple of Hephaestus right in front of us and the National Observatory in addition to the Acropolis, all of which are part of the fascinating Athenian skyline.
From here, all of Athens’ major landmarks are within walking distance. Taking the walkway up to Thissio, you will come across the pedestrian street that goes all the way around the Acropolis, to its gate, the Herodion Atticus Odeon, the Ancient Theatre of Dionysus and the Acropolis Museum. Strolling around the perimeter of the Acropolis, the Pnyx site is revealed, where the ancient ancestors of Athens used to convene to discuss matters pertaining to philosophy, better governance, economy and ethics among other important subjects. It takes less than 10 minutes, to get the aforementioned landmarks, and even less to reach the areas of Monastiraki square with its colorful flea market, and Plaka, a historic residential area at the northern side of the rock where the islandesque district of Anafiotika is found. There are numerous quaint tavernas, cafes and shops along the way so there is plenty of opportunity to pause to enjoy a meal or a beverage, in between admiring all the ancient relics that appear along the way. The Ancient Agora is located between Plaka and the Acropolis rock, and it is fairly well preserved, so well worth a visit. Syntagma Square, which is the home of the Greek Parliament is also readily accessible by walking up through the main road that separates Monastiraki Square from Psyrri, leading up to the pedestrian Ermou street which is a popular high street full of shopping outlets. From Psyrri, Athens’ biggest and central market is located under a 10 minute walk. Athinas Street is known for housing the famous Varvakios market, from which most local restaurants and tavernas will buy their daily ingredients. Fish, meat, fruit, vegetables, spices and all sorts of wares are sold here while visiting the market is excellent chance to imbue into the more rustic side of Athens, as it is, figuratively speaking, somewhat of an urban-bucolic bridge.
The Kerameikos site is also close by, by taking the walkway from Thissio to the right, with the Acropolis to your left. This route will reveal the poignant Ancient Necropolis that is enclosed and unravels before your very eyes with the formidable Acropolis rock and the Parthenon in the background. From Kerameikos, the area of Gazi is just a few minutes away, popular amongst the youth as it is a vibrant place for nightlife and entertainment, with a wide variety of bars and clubs. Kerameikos Metro station is located 0,8 km from Thalasino appartment, while Thissio Rail station is only 0,2 km and Monastiraki Metro and Rail station is just 0,4 km away.
