Xirosterni village is one of the villages of “Kefalades”, Byzantium colonists sent to settle in Crete. Villa Kokini is nearby a small square, where the villagers would gather to exchange their views, a place combining inspiration, creation and tradition. Villa Kokini has been built with a tint of nobility to match its history. It is surrounded by authentic images, small beautiful villages, mountains, the sea, breathtaking views, beaches and pure nature offering panoramic view to the Cretan sea and the majestic White Mountains, with a mild climate and a key location allowing the exploration of Western Crete.
Taking the road from Chania in the direction of Kalyves-Vamos to find Xirosterni, visitors will come across the villa after 28 km of easy travel.
Located on a hill dominating the area, the villa resonates with the attention paid to detail, having been designed to serve as a summerhouse for demanding guests that seek a high aesthetic value. It is a modern residence built with natural raw materials and building techniques. The villa features stones in the color of the earth they come from with tints of pink, gray and beige that “mellow down” contrasts. Sophisticated furnishing with a touch of tradition, carefully-selected lighting, stone or fine wall finishing, bathrooms and kitchens all picked out having in mind our guest’s well-being ornate all three levels of the villa.
The villa covers 320 m2.
The ground floor includes two separate bedrooms with a private bathroom equipped with a relaxing hot tub. Fluffy bathrobes and towels, personal hygiene items and all accessories of a privately owned house are available for the guests. Each room has an air conditioner, spacious closets and a safe. Both bedrooms look to the beautiful landscape that unravels beneath their private verandas next to the pool. Further inside, we find a small but functional kitchen with a fridge, a coffee machine, a mini bar, a glass-ceramic cook-top and a washing machine. The same area also houses the gym with a treadmill, a stationary bicycle, fitness equipment, a Ping-Pong table and a big sauna for the ultimate relaxation. The ground floor also hosts the cellar with wines skillfully produced by the owners. There is also a large freezer and a smaller storage space in the cellar.
The first floor includes one bedroom with a queen-size bed and a private bathroom with a hydro-massage shower cabin. Facilities available to guests include: air conditioners, spacious closets, a safe, space for luggage and a view to the traditional village, the mountains and the serenity of the land from the room’s private balcony.
The first floor also houses the large living room with a comfortable couch, a fireplace, an LCD Satellite TV, a DVD player, a hi-fi system and a docking station. Right next to the living room, we find the kitchen with a contemporary-style family dinner table, a fridge, a microwave, a stove, a dish-washer, an espresso coffee maker and all necessary equipment to cook and serve.
The spacious indoor areas extend outside to a large veranda with a panoramic view to the mountain and the sea, equipped with an eight-people dining table and many benches to relax for a drink, a coffee or to eat, all hours of the day.
The second floor houses has one more spacious bedroom with a twin bed, a private bathroom with a shower, as well as a big veranda with an outdoor Jacuzzi for four, looking to breathtaking scenery in the sunset or under the moonlight.
The surroundings of Villa Kokini have been landscaped to offer luxurious but austere facilities and generous comfort to allow guests relax, rest and enjoy. Blending harmonically in with the landscape around it, the garden of the villa suits Mediterranean climates. A prickly pear tree dominates the space, complemented by pine trees, olive trees and many other kinds of plants and trees that naturally grow in this land. A traditional stonewalls, a typical feature of Cretan architecture, surrounds and delineates the garden.
Villa Kokini has been equipped with a 52 m2 pool with a sanitation system based on salt water (free of chlorine), friendly to the skin and eyes, with a deck level overflow system to give the impression that water flows directly from some natural spring.
Outdoor areas also include a barbeque and a traditional Cretan stone oven. The villa has parking space and is fenced for security and privacy.
