Mary's house in Epidavros is a beautiful retreat that offered us the privacy and luxury to relax as a family. The house is very clean, comfortable, extremely well equipped, and well located to explore further afield if you so desire. From the moment we arrived we were warmly greeted by Mary, shown around the property, and also given an welcome pack that far exceeded our expectations; the quality was very high and was much appreciated after a long journey as it saved us taking a trip to find provisions. This was the theme for the rest of the property as we discovered with the toiletries left for us to use, towels and linen, the furniture inside and outside the property, and the grounds all being of a high standard. The highlight for us was the outside area that we used for dining, and of course the pool that both children (aged 7 and 4) loved. The water was clean, clear and a perfect temperature. It got used a lot! Epidavros itself is a nice little town, with plenty of amenities including many bars, restaurants and shops. The local beaches tend to be pebbles rather than sand, though the best beach in the area was right below the property, which offered more sand than others, easy access to the water and safe swimming for our children. There are also nice places to drink and eat here too. There are a number of archaeological sites nearby, and it's also within easy access if you want to explore quaint fishing villages, and within c.45mins of Poros (also a lovely island) where you can take a ferry to other places. We visited Hydra from here - highly recommended for a day-trip and cost €68 for a return trip for the family (30 mins each way from Poros). If you fancy something more adventurous then there is plenty to do; we opted for walking and climbing with Methana Volcano and Devil's Bridge close by (both great for kids). The grounds of the house are tended to daily by Kostas who knows the local area very well, speaks excellent English and was most helpful during our stay. He is a lovely and very kind man and both children loved seeing him every morning. If you do decide to stay here, and we recommend that you do, then you will need a car as the house is a few minutes drive from the town.

La location de Maria fut parfaite: - emplacement : vue formidable sur Epidaure, qui est un bon point de départ pour la côte Est du Péloponnese. - accueil de Maria : Fantastique, très généreuse et attentionnée. - equipement: complet (machine à laver le linge par ex.), aucune mesquinerie, tout est fourni. - divers: la piscine (non sécurisée) avec une vue incroyable, attenante au lieu de vie. Le tout est formidablement pratique et facile à vivre. Recommandé pour famille ou groupe d'amis. Seuls inconvénients, une volée de quelques marches + piscine non sécurisée (comme partout en Grèce? )

The pictures paint an accurate picture--the setting is gorgeous, with magnificent breath-taking views that you never get tired of. The house is simply perfect, with all the amenities that you need. What the pictures do not show, however, are all the little extra things that go to make the stay a delight. When we arrived, there was a lovely welcome pack of fresh food (and a very welcome bottle of wine!). There were inflatable toys for the pool. The bathroom had a wonderful supply of toiletries. There was an ample supply of towels, beach towels, dressing gowns… the list goes on. Thoughtful touches like these make the stay a complete delight. The owner of the house, Mary, was extremely kind and welcoming, even to the extent of meeting us on our arrival even though our flight was delayed so much that we only got there in the small hours of the morning. While we spent a lot of time sitting around or in the pool, or playing table tennis on the patio, the house is well located to allow visits to spectacular sights. It is an easy drive from Athens airport, a short journey to the beautiful islands of Poros and Hydra, and close to the magnificent Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus. We spent 10 days at the house and left feeling extremely relaxed and invigorated. We strongly recommend this beautiful house and would love to return ourselves.

It was a great pleasure staying in this wonderful villa. The pool is great, the view is amazing and wide over the top of nice Olive trees. We felt at home in a lovely gem. We stayed with a 6 people family and it was easy with extra beds. Mary is a very careful and kind host, and Costas also very kind and ready to help. The villa offers a magnificent view of the sea and the beautiful landscape of Paleas Epidavrou. The house is nice and very well equipped with all you need (but no dishwasher). Mary had prepared lots of good extras for our arrival and we were able to do our shopping the next afternoon! Beyond these kind attentions Mary has a sense of hospitality and it is very nice to be so well received. The pool made the joy of children, the presence of baby cats was also a big bonus for them! The terrace is very nice for dinning outside and relaxing in the sun loungers. The location is very quiet: we were in August and there were few people. There is a beach at the end of the road but we preferred to go to Kalamaki beach (5 minutes in car) which is beautiful and there was almost no one! We were able to go to visit archaeological sites including Epidaurus, Mycenae, Corinth ... Again, visiting at the end of the day it was very quiet. It takes 2.5 hours from Athens Airport by car. Once out of the highway, the road is beautiful. Better to call Mary when you arrive because the path to the house is a little hidden! Otherwise I would like to thank especially Mr Costa who came to take care every day of the garden and the swimming pool, for his kindness, his small gifts, and especially for having come to accompany us on sunday evening at the medical center after a fall of our daughter.
