Visit Greece - Island of Mykonos

Mykonos, an international tourist hotspot, is part of the Cyclades group of islands. It spans an area of 85.5 square kilometers with 10,134 permanent
inhabitants most of whom live in the largest town, Mykonos (or Chora), on the west coast. It is served by plane from Athens and several European airports.
It is also connected with ferries and high speed boats from the ports of Rafina and Piraues, with additional several possibilities to link with the other nearby
Cycladic islands such as Tinos, Naxos, Syros, Paros and Santorini.

Tourism is the major industry of the island. Mykonos was known already in the 1930s by famous artists, politicians and wealthy Europeans who began
spending their vacations there and remains a must-visit Greek destination.

Among its attractions are the windmills, a defining feature of the Mykonian landscape, many of them built in the 16th century. Most are concentrated in the
main town of Chora and all are north-facing to harness the strong northern Little Venice with its rows of fishing houses line the waterfront with their balconies
hanging over the sea.

The picturesque town of Mykonos offers a tremendous nightlife, excellent restaurants, clothing and jewelry shops of all luxury brands.

Mykonos has perhaps the most dense concentration of beautiful sandy beaches, the majority of which well organized with sun beds and umbrellas, bars
and restaurants.

The famous island of Delos, one of the most important mythological, historical and archaeological sites in Greece, inhabited today only by ancient
monuments, can be visited by boat on a one day trip.
